* This document is updated as we identify common questions from clients
1: What is the cost of adding AVS services to my websites?
A: There is no fee for the AVS system provided by Elevated X. The system requires a verfication service, which does have a fee set by each service. The per-auth fees typically range from $0.25-0.35 per user. We suggest discussing and negotiating pricing directly with AVS service providers.
2: When does a website visitor verify?
A: Verifying each user would be cost-prohibitive for website operators. The current standard is to only verify website members/customers who have purchased or joined prior to AVS being implemented to ensure compliance, AND any new customers/members who create an account to make purchases or who signup for a membership.
In all three of the above scenarios, once the AVS setting in your Elevated X CMS admin panel is marked as enabled (either by you or our support staff), anyone who visits your site from a location matching geo-data based IP blocking for age verification will be presented with a safe for work (SFW) landing page telling them their location requires them to verify that they are an adult.
From there, a user can either signup and then verify, or, if already signed up, can click to verify. Both of those actions result in the user being sent to the AVS service you setup, and once they're verified, they are redirected back to your website by the service.
3: Does Elevated X provide and maintain a list of states/regions that require AVS?
A: No, Elevated X may provide a default list of known areas, however, this is not a substitute for professional legal advice or oversight. Each website operator is (legally) responsible for their own age verification compliance practices and should be informed and remain current on laws and location requirements as bills and laws are implemented.
We strongly advise all of our clients to work with a licensed attorney well versed on AVS matters who can help ensure that compliance requirements are adhered to as laws change or new laws are passed.
4: Does Elevated X assist or provide information and guidance on custom AVS setups?
A: Unfortunately due to legal liability, we are unable top provide outside assistance, communicate with outside developers, or offer any support for custom AVS needs outside of what we provide out-of-the-box or information provided in our support knowledge base.
5: Does Elevated X assist with custom SFW lander design?
A: Unfortunately due to legal liability, we are unable top provide any assistance beyond setup of our default AVS framework and SFW design template.
6: Does Elevated X software store any sort of data from BlueCheck or VerifyMy?
A: It only stores that the customer has been verified.
7: How does the AVS service send the verification data? Does it go through Elevated X first?
A: The Elevated X software forwards the end-user to the AVS service. The user completes their age verification process and is forwarded (returned back) to the originating website with a reference code that the user is verified with the AVS service.
This is handled transparently via the AVS API inside the Elevated X CMS software, so nothing needs to be done with development or programming.
8: How does the above differ with NATS?
A: It does not differ with NATS. AVS is tied to the website, with the verification process happening independent of the signup process or NATS.
9: Can I have my developer submit tickets or contact you for assistance in setting up AVS?
A: 100% of the entire framework for AVS is provided as part of your Elevated X software and no involvement by a developer is needed for setup or use of AVS on your websites.
